In this season after Easter, the Church has prepared for the fresh out pouring of the Holy Spirit on her children during the Pentecost to enable them live more fruitful lives in bearing witness to Christ and also for living in liberty, a life’s characteristics inundated with interior joy; one of the marks of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in a soul, the joy which the Lord himself gives.

The Holy Spirit comes with his gifts and fruits that enlighten, strengthen, empower, fortify, edify, sanctify and liberate one from fear, weakness, timidity, lukewarmness, disobedience, faithlessness, sin among others, all for the good and growth of the Church, the body of Christ which is you and I. It is therefore the mind of God to make it all good for us; to help us live in union with his will so that he will live in us, make it good for us and help us solve our problems through his Spirit.

When the Holy Spirit of God enters into one’s life, there is always a difference. There will be repentance and renewal which do of course come with restoration of what the swarming locusts have eaten in one’s life. The Lord promises to restore (Joel 2:25 ) because where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom (2Cor 3:17 ); the impossible becomes possible.

The Spirit of the Lord is the Spirit of truth, of sound mind, of wisdom, of understanding, of love, of counsel, of fear of God and of power (spiritual power and authority in Christ) among others. He is the one that melts the troubled sea, giving us peace and joy even in the midst of troubles. His light sustains us in faith, hope and love, giving us interior joy that surpasses understanding contrary to the spirit of fear, anxiety, grumbling and making of negative confessions that exist where the Holy Spirit is not. The bad spirit also goes with bitterness, anger, hatred, retaliation, unforgiveness, lies, faithlessness and deception among others.

The Holy Spirit helps us to succeed in our projects in life through his counsel and guidance, making life easier for us. He guides us against danger by his inspiration and warning. He leads us in all truth and more, when we are obedient to him. He convicts us our wrongs and wants us to humbly ask for forgiveness.

We can therefore be obedient to the Holy Spirit by repenting of our sins, abhorring them, living in obedience to God’s Word, relying on the grace of God always in all we do, submitting ourselves to God to rule by his Holy Spirit, obeying his inspirations and being attentive to his instructions and counsel.

Every mountain of our lives can melt under the entrance of the Holy Spirit. Our struggles can become easier under his guide and inspiration just as the scripture has noted, “not by might, not by power, but by my Spirit says the Lord of host. What are you, O Great Mountain? Before Zerubabel you shall become a plain” (Zachariah 4:6). Yes, before us, our problems which may be like mountains can melt before the Holy Spirit. Therefore our struggles without the Holy Spirit’s intervention may become waste if not, most times, by the mercy and grace of God our loving Father who does not treat us according to our sins and carelessness but patiently wants us to repent by flooding us with his blessings to which we are not even sensitive.

So note that as the sky is your limit both spiritually and otherwise, you cannot make it alone. You need the Holy Spirit’s intervention in your life so that a journey of one day may not become for you that of ten years and that of forty days, may not be forty years.

We need the Holy Spirit in our lives which demands total submission to God without holding anything back. Let us therefore open ourselves to the Holy Spirit for his infilling this season around for the journey is far.

May the grace of God see us through in Jesus name. Amen.

SACRED HEART OF JESUS, THY KINGDOME COME!
